Madonna has reportedly begged Office star and creator, Ricky Gervais to give her a role in his new TV show, Extras.

The international superstar accosted comic Gervais backstage at the recent Live 8 concert in Hyde Park, The Sun reports.

An unnamed source told the paper: "When Madonna asked for a part in the next series of Extras, she shook hands with Ricky and he said, You do know that is a verbal contract!

"They are both keen and Rickys planning on keeping Madonna to her word. Shes a massive fan of The Office and shell be great in extras," the source added.

Madonna confessed in a backstage interview following the Live 8 gig that she had told her comic hero she would "sweep his floor for him" if hed employ her.

Big names already employed by Gervais to appear in the first series of Extras are Samuel L Jackson, Kate Winslet and Jude Law.

The new show, which features the comic as a struggling actor, will hit UK screens on July 21.
