The infamous house where Michael Jackson died in 2009 is finally off the market. According to Wall Street Journal, the house was sold for $18.1million, much lower than the original $29million asking price of house’s owners Hubert Guez and wife Roxanne.
The luxury mansion was Jackson’s temporary home at the time of his death and it was reportedly being rented by AEG for $100,000 per month.
The house was designed by renowned architect Richard Landry and located in the affluent neighbourhood of Los Angeles. The 17,000 square foot mansion is understood to have seven rooms, 13 bathrooms, and 12 fireplaces.
It is also thought the house has a wine cellar, tasting room, theater, spa with gym, pool, gardens, and a guesthouse.
Based on reports, the Guez family bought the mansion for $18.5m in 2004, and it was later put up for sale after Jackson’s death for $29million. Earlier this year, it was re-listed for $23.9million.
Mauricio Umansky, Chief Executive and founder of real-estate firm The Agency, who represented both the buyer and the seller in the transaction, is quoted by Female First saying: “This house will ultimately become a legendary place in music history, much like where Elvis lived.”
