Following weeks of speculations that a number of long lost early episodes of Doctor Who, which star William Hartnell and Patrick Throughton were found, BBC Worldwide is now expected to confirm the find at a press screening in London later this week.
It is also expected that they will provide details as to how fans can watch the recovered episodes. Currently, there are 106 episodes that are missing.
Between 1960s and 1970s, BBC had destroyed many of the sci-fi drama’s original transmission tapes. However, majority of the episodes had been transferred on to film for foreign broadcasters. These prints could be the source of retrieved episodes.
In 1991, all four instalments of the Patrick Troughton adventure The Tomb of the Cybermen were discovered in Hong Kong.
