Singer Lily Allen has suffered a miscarriage after being rushed into hospital late last week, it has been revealed.
The 25-year-old, who was six months pregnant, is said to be devastated at the loss of her second child in two years.
Allen had been forced to pull out of a performance the previous weekend after she was said to have contracted a viral infection.
She was rushed to hospital last week after complaining of stomach cramps and although doctors kept her under observation all weekend, they were unable to save the baby.
The Smile singer posted on her Twitter page, “Say a little prayer” whilst being comforted by boyfriend Sam Cooper, 32.
It will come as a shock to the star after doctors gave her the all-clear at her three-month scan. She had previously lost a baby at four months back in 2008 with her then-boyfriend Ed Simons of The Chemical Brothers.
A spokesman said last night that the singer has asked for privacy at this time.
