Les Battersby is to hijack a church in 'Coronation Street' - to give fiancée Cilla her dream wedding.
The tightwad character, played by Bruce Jones, will break into the church while the priest is away to get eccentric friend Father Abraham to marry him and Cilla on the cheap.
However, the betrothed pair will not be legally married because Father Abraham has not been ordained and the pair are forced to tie the knot again in a secret registry office ceremony a few days later.
Viewers will see the events unfold over the coming weeks.
It is not the only mad-cap storyline the comedic couple are involved in over the next few months.
Earlier this week, it was revealed Cilla will blow up the fish 'n' chip shop where she works this Christmas - after trying to deep-fry her turkey.
The larger-than-life character, played by Wendi Peters, tries to make a festive lunch for Les in the Yule tide special of the soap but ends up causing a massive explosion instead.
A 'Street' insider revealed: "Only Cilla and Les would fancy a deep-fried turkey.
"But she doesn't follow the right procedure and it ends with a bang and Cilla covered in chip fat and debris from the explosion."
