The village of Velikaya Kopanya in south-west Ukraine’s Zakarpattia Oblast region has been branded “Land of Twins” for having 122 of them. The village, which has less than 4,000 inhabitants, may end up in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Maryana Savka, a local councillor, said: "The ultimate baby boom came in the year 2004. But ever since then we are having at least between two and three sets of twins born every year."
Local villagers believe that the reason for the record-breaking number of twins in the area is due to the special local water, which they claim has health-giving properties.
