Two individuals who tragically died following a private boat trip are named as Kelly Webster and Lauren Thornton

Two females have died following a private boat trip on Lake Windermere in the UK’s Lake District, and one male was also taken to hospital. The names of the woman and child who tragically died have been confirmed as Kelly Webster, aged 36, and Lauren Thornton, 10.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 4pm on Monday, 2nd April, after the three individuals had been experiencing “breathing difficulties”, Cumbria police confirmed.
There are rumours that the reason for the incident is because of a generator on the boat which may have been faulty. There are claims that the two died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning. Police have previously said that they cannot say whether the females died as a result of this, as of time of press.
A statement from Cumbria Police read as: “Police are currently investigating the circumstances of this tragic incident and trying to establish the full facts about what has happened. The coroner has been informed.”
It is understood there will be a full post-mortem carried out in order to determine cause of death.
The three individuals were taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. It is understood the male is still in hospital and is receiving treatment as of time of writing.
Lake Windermere is considered to be the biggest lake in England, situated in the North of the country. The area attracts many tourists every year, both locally and from further afield. The Lake District is a popular spot with walkers in particular, with many people going to the area to enjoy outdoor activities. This includes boating trips on the areas lakes.
