She may have just lost boyfriend Robert Pattinson, and now reports say Kristen Stewart has been dropped from the planned sequel to her movie, Snow White and the Huntsman.
The 22-year-old Twilight actress gained positive reviews following her performance in the movie. Despite this and the fact that she played the role of the titular heroine, Kristen has reportedly been dropped from the sequel. Universal is said to have decided to focus the sequel on the character of the huntsman, played by Chris Hemsworth.
According to an LA Times quote from Universal, Kristen ‘could’ still appear in the movie, but what’s certain is that the film will not focus on her this time around.
The news comes weeks after Kristen’s affair with her married director Rupert Sanders was revealed. Although there was no doubt either Kristen or Rupert would have to go after Rupert’s wife Liberty Ross had said that the two are not allowed to work together again, many were surprised that Universal chose to drop their main star and instead keep the director.
Although there is no official report that Sanders will still be on board, sources in the industry seem to be certain about his return to the franchise.
Aside from Kristen, original writer David Keopp has also been paid out of his contract. Reports say his contract was for a sequel, but the new film is turning out to be more of a spin-off rather than a sequel.
Reports say that ‘the project is being transformed into something other than the movie that Koepp had been hired to write’.
