Konnie Huq to marry satirist

Charlie Brooker and Konnie Huq have become engaged after nine months together, reports suggest.

The couple had made plans to marry in Las Vegas during a month-long road trip around America, but they were shelved after Huq was confirmed as the new presenter on 'The Xtra Factor' after Holly Willoughby backed out due to her commitments to 'This Morning'.

Huq has now joined media mogul Simon Cowell in Glasgow at the first auditions for the new series of the ITV2 talent hunt spin-off show.

Before dating 'Screenwipe' and 'Newswipe' TV satirist Brooker, Huq formed a relationship with former Blue Peter co-host Richard Bacon. They were together for six years before splitting in 2006. She left the show in 2008.

Huq and Brooker, met in 2008. She appeared in an episode of his 'Screenwipe' on BBC1 in the same year.

A source close to the couple the Daily Mail: "Konnie and Charlie are very much in love. They got engaged some weeks ago, but have been trying to keep the news quiet.

"They were going to go on holiday this Friday and were thinking of actually getting married in Vegas, but that has all been put on ice after Konnie got the Xtra Factor. It's been a bit of a whirlwind week."
