Quentin Tarantino has urged the producers of the next Bond film to hire him.

Legendary director Quentin Tarantino has stepped up his campaign to work on the next Bond film.

The future of the lucrative franchise is in hot water with Pierce Brosnan reportedly turning his back on the role after becoming disillusioned with the direction the 007 character is heading.

Tarantino appears to share Brosnan's gripes about the recent movies, especially Bond No.20, which relied heavily on visual effects.

"I've bumped into Pierce and we talked about it," the Kill Bill director told chat show host Jay Leno. "The producers have got nothing to lose by hiring me."

The infectious enthusiasm Tarantino brings to his projects might be just what Bond needs and his involvement could persuade Brosnan, who has been a huge success as the super suave spy, not to quit.

If Brosnan does turn his back on the role, rumour has it that Hugh Jackman, Clive Owen or Ralph Fiennes will step up to the plate.

Tarantino recently directed his two-part homage to Japanese cinema, Kill Bill, which saw his muse, Uma Thurman, slashing her way through a variety of goons to exact revenge upon her former lover.
