Kanye West engaged to Kim Kardashian following birthday baseball stadium proposal

Rap icon Kanye West proposed to reality TV star Kim Kardashian on Monday - the same day she turned 33.

It has been reported that 'Gold Digger' singer West rented out an entire baseball stadium for the romantic gesture.

West proposed to Kardashian in front of family and friends at San Francisco's AT&T Park before dashing off to another engagement - making an appearance at the Hollywood Film Awards in Beverly Hills where he honoured 'Shame' and 'Hunger' director Steve McQueen with a special award in conjunction with his new movie, the historical drama '12 Years a Slave'.

The union marks Kim's third marriage. In 2000, aged just 19, she married music producer Damon Thomas but they divorced four years later. In August 2011, she walked down the aisle with basketball star Kris Humphries but their marriage lasted an even shorter amount of time: just 72 days.

West and Kardashian got together very quickly after the breakdown of her marriage to Humphries - a move which resulted in Humphries condemning their marriage as a publicity scam.

The latest marriage news comes at a time when her family is suffering from marital problems: her mother Kris Jenner has separated from Bruce Jenner while her sister Khloe Kardashian is also having a rocky relationship with husband Lamar Odom.

Kardashian's family is famous for their reality TV show 'Keeping up with the Kardashians'. It is unclear as yet if West's proposal will be shown on an upcoming episode.

West and Kardashian have a four-month daughter together named North.
