Johnny Depp to do Alice in Wonderland 2

Johnny Depp will portray the role of the Mad Hatter for the second time in a sequel to be directed by James Bobin.

Johnny Depp will portray the role of the Mad Hatter for the second time in Alice in Wonderland 2. Depp played the same role in the 2010 Lewis Carroll adaptation, which earned more than $1billion worldwide. It featured Helena Bonham Carter and Mia Wasikowska as Alice.

A source revealed to Deadline, a film website, that the actor is close to finishing talks with Disney to appear in the fantasy sequel after he reportedly signed a new deal with the studio. The deal apparently mean that Depp can develop and produce projects with Disney over a number of years.

The sequel will be directed by James Bobbin, who directed the recent Muppets film reboot.

Depp is also supposedly set to appear in the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
