In an interview on BBC Breakfast last Friday, John Travolta revealed that he almost gave up his career after his son Jett passed away three years ago.
Jett’s death was a sudden tragic loss that hit Travolta and his family a little too hard, as he died after suffering a seizure during a family holiday in the Bahamas. He was 16.
The 58-year-old actor, who is still obviously grieving, said: “I lost my son a few years ago and I had been having quite a time of that.”
“I’d even thought of retiring at one point, because it felt like too much.”
Over the past three years, the Grease star has been relying on support from his church, his fans, and his family. Now, he feels it is finally ‘OK to go back to work’ as he stars in the film Savages.
He revealed, however, that he only agreed to do the film because it was a ‘high-end, five-star film’.
‘Savages’ is his first film after the tragedy that hit his family. The movie will also star Salma Hayek, Benicio del Toro, and Blake Lively.
