Jimmy Tarbuck, aged 73, has been arrested following allegations of sex abuse, it has come to light. The veteran comedian has been released on bail.
It has emerged that Jimmy Tarbuck was arrested on April 26th over a historical child sex abuse claim. This allegedly happened in Yorkshire in the 70s, according to reports.
His arrest came as officers involved in Operation Yewtree reportedly informed North Yorkshire Police.
It has been outlined by police that Jimmy Tarbuck was not arrested in connection with Operation Yewtree, but as a result of the inquiry as information was handed over.
North Yorkshire police has said in a statement: “We can confirm that a 73-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a historic child sex abuse investigation in Harrogate.
Adding: “He was released on police bail pending further enquiries.”
Operation Yewtree came about following the scandal surrounding Jimmy Savile, who died in October 2011.
Jimmy Tarbuck first rose to fame in the 60s. His first TV show was entitled It’s Tarbuck 65! He has also been a host of Sunday Night at the London Palladium
