JamiroquaiÂ’s Jay Kay has apologised for his odd and supposed abusive behaviour on X Factor last weekend by stating he was simply misunderstood.
The singer, who said he was quitting music four years ago, was back with a new single to debut on the talent show but viewers were left wondering why the judges had given him such a cold reception.
It later emerged that he had apparently used several abusive terms when describing both female judges and had in fact ridiculed the show, even telling Dermot O’Leary: “I had reservations.”
Jay Kay has now said, however, that he has sent apologetic flowers to Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole and that the comments he made were taken out of context. Friends back him up by claiming his comments were made years ago.
The singer was a huge star in the 90s and 2000s, selling 25 million albums and receiving an approximated fortune of £35million.
He managed to crack the American market after writing and performing the lead track for Godzilla and he even got himself a celebrity girlfriend in the form of Denise Van Outen, who he dated for three years in the late 90s.
