Jamie Oliver fans seem to love getting souvenirs from his 30 restaurants. The popular chef revealed that they are losing bathroom fittings and 30,000 customized linen napkins every month according to Daily Mail.
The owner of Jamie’s Italian recently told Radio Times: ‘I have noticed things in this recession. Like people nicking the linen napkins from our restaurants.
‘We now lose about 30,000 a month. And there’s another thing: every restaurant of mine has the old-fashioned Thomas Crapper toilets because I’ve always thought they look wicked.
‘But they’re really expensive and we’ve had to have the handles and flushers welded on because people were unscrewing them and nicking them.
The chef, who is vocal about supporting better school meals for years, confronted Kylie Millar, a contestant on a TV cooking show for stealing one. Millar confessed to taking the napkin but ended up getting it autographed by Oliver.
On the other hand, Jamie’s spokesman confirmed the stealing but doesn’t agree with Oliver’s number. He said: ‘Although we do lose a fair few napkins, it is not near that number. People mostly want them as souvenirs.
