Conrad Murray has been found guilty of the manslaughter of Michael Jackson.

Dr Murray was convicted of the involuntary manslaughter of the late singer, who died in 2009.

He remained silent in his seat as the verdict was given and was then led out of the courtroom in handcuffs to await sentencing on November 29. The jury took just ten hours, over two days to reach the unanimous decision.

Several Jackson family members were also in attendance, including the singer's parents Katherine and Joe Jackson, brothers Jermaine and Randy and sisters LaToya and Rebbe Jackson.

On leaving the court, La Toya wiped away tears and thanked the legions of fans who kept her brother's memory alive:

"Thank you America, thank you everyone. Everybody was wonderful. Michael loves everybody. He was in that courtroom with us - that's why justice was served."

Older sister Rebbe continued:

"I am just happy it's all over. Nothing will bring Michael back but I am just happy that he was found guilty."

Family matriarch, Katherine Jackson said she was always confident of the outcome and the verdict was a relief, telling reporters that she feels "better now", with Jackson's father, Joe, adding "Justice was done."

An official statement from the family read:

"The Estate of Michael Jackson and of Michael himself has always believed the jury system works and despite the tragedy that brought about this trial we are in agreement with the jury's verdict.

"In this case justice has been served. Michael is missed on a daily basis but his genius and his music will be with us forever."
