Jackie Collins, famous for her saucy soap-like novels, is desperate to do a cameo turn in Coronation Street.

The raunchy author, whose works include The Bitch, The Stud, Thrill! and Lethal Seduction, has claimed that Corrie is the soap she loves the most.

And now she wants to be a part of the Weatherfield action.

The sister of Dynasty star Joan told the Daily Star: "If Sir Ian McKellen can make it, then no-one should snub it." Sir Ian appeared in a cameo Corrie role recently.

And it looks like these old artistic figures a triggering a cultish fashion in the young, as Sophie Anderton has become the latest celeb to express an interest in the soap world.

The former bra model has started acting lessons and apparently wants to be a 'seductive mystery girl' in EastEnders.
