Coronation Street star Michael Le Vell is now in rehab following his admission to abusing cocaine.
Even though he was written out of the soap as Kevin Webster, bosses clearly did not turn their backs on him totally as broadcasting network ITV is paying £2,000 a week for his rehab stint.
Also, the actor is still earning £2,000 a month as basic salary. In addition, the show’s bosses have reportedly made it clear that they want him back once he is clean.
A source said: “ITV recognises that Michael needs help and are doing all they can for him.“ He is picking up his basic salary, just as he did during his legal fight last year, and they have also agreed to pay his fees at the clinic.
"They are very keen for him to get fit and well, and back to the show.”
Reports say that the actor initially said no to entering rehab but was persuaded by staff at ITV when the idea was suggested last month.
The actor admitted he first took cocaine “in a moment of weakness” a week before his child-abuse trial last year.
