Jessica Simpson has confirmed that she is expecting a baby girl.

The popstar appears semi-naked on the cover of this month's Elle US, emulating Demi Moore's famous Vanity Fair shoot from 1991, where she posed nude while pregnant.

The 31-year-old is seen cradling her baby bump, while protecting her modesty with one arm.

In an interview with the publication, Jessica confirms that she and fianc Eric Johnson are expecting a little girl, revealing:

"I swear, I will croak if she asks me for a pair of Nikes instead of Christian Louboutins!

"Eric is so athletic - were gonna have this athletic girl and I wont even be able to take her shopping, cause all shes gonna want is sports bras and Nikes!"

She also hinted that they have chosen a rather unconventional name for their first born, saying:

"We're sure on the name. Its nothing shocking and nothing youll have to add to the dictionary. Still, when people hear it, theyll know why."
