Former Stone Roses singer Ian Brown has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting his wife Fabiola Quiroz.
Brown was detained after police were called on Monday morning to reports of a disturbance at a house in West Kensington, London.
A Scotland Yard spokeswoman confirmed: "On arrival, a 37-year-old woman made an allegation of domestic assault."
He has been married to the Mexican model since 1999. They have a son, Emilio, nine.
The singer/songwriter was taken to a west London police station. He was then bailed on condition that he returns in December pending further inquiries.
Brown found fame when he created the seminal alternative rock band The Stone Roses in Manchester. In September, he announced that he was planning to write and record an album with The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr.
The Stone Roses disbanded after the release of 1994 follow-up 'Second Coming'.
A 20th anniversary edition of the band's self-titled debut album was released, earlier this year. It has been hailed as one of the definitive 'Madchester' music genre's most influential albums.
