Following the death of Mick Jagger’s long-time partner, 49-year-old model and designer L’Wren Scott, The Rolling Stones have cancelled the first date of their Australian tour. Jagger has also released a statement.
According to reports, Ms Scott was found hanged at a New York apartment at around 10am local time.
The band, which had arrived in Australia at the start of the week, was due to stage a concert in Perth on the 19th. However, Frontier Touring had issued a statement after the incident.
It said: "Frontier Touring and Concerts West regret to announce that The Rolling Stones concert in Perth will not be going ahead as scheduled for Wednesday 19 March 2014.
"No further information is available at this time, ticket holders are asked to hold on to their tickets until a further update is available."
Sir Mick, 70, and Scott had been dating since 2001.
A spokesman for the singer said that Sir Mick is “completely shocked and devastated by the news.” The spokesman added that rumours that the couple had stopped dating in the weeks before her death were not true.
Jagger broke his silence about Scott by writing on his website the following tribute:
"I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way.
"We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves.
"She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me.
"I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received.
"I will never forget her,
Mick."
