TV legend Kelsey Grammer has forgiven the man who raped and killed his sister in 1975 but said he cannot “giver your release my endorsement.”
At the recent Colorado parole hearing of convicted murderer Freddie Glenn, the Frasier star said: 'I accept that you live with remorse, but I live with tragedy every day.”
'I accept your apology. I forgive you. However, I cannot give your release my endorsement.'
Freddie Glenn kidnapped and murdered 18-year-old Karen Elisa Grammer in 1975. She was kidnapped from her car and was raped for four hours before taking a knife to the throat.
Mr Grammer said that to bless the idea of Glenn’s parole “would be a betrayal of my sister’s life.”
A prison spokeswoman said on Wednesday that Glenn’s parole request has been denied. He will next be eligible for parole in 2017.
Addressing Glenn, Kelsey said: 'I want to believe you have actually changed your life … things you say, I accept a lot of it,' Kelsey Grammar said on Tuesday.
He then asked: 'If someone did to your sister what you did to mine, what would you think should be done to him?'
Grammer's close circle of friends and associates have seen numerous tragedies: his father was shot dead in 1968, his sister was raped and murdered, his two half-brothers drowned in a diving accident and his close friend David Angell (producer of Frasier) was among the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attack having been on the first plane that struck the towers.
