Michael Schumacher’s close friend FIA President Jean Todt said that the F1 racer is still fighting for recovery despite few signs of improvement after suffering severe head injuries in a skiing incident in December 2013. He was under induced coma for six months before he was moved to his home on the shores of Lake Geneva for rehabilitation.
A £10 million medical suite has been built at Schumacher’s home to provide him with 24-hour care.
With his family fiercely guarding their privacy, there is little to know about his condition. A police and security presence is permanently stationed outside of his home to prevent intrusions.
Schumacher won seven drivers’ championship and 91 races in his career. He retired at the end of 2006 but returned to Formula one in 2010 with Mercedes. He retried for the second time following three largely unsuccessful seasons.
