Henman spares Britain's blushes

Tim Henman has put Great Britain level in their Davis Cup tie by making short work of Gilles
Kremer in Luxembourg.

The British number one breezed past an opponent ranked 880 places beneath him in the world
rankings.

Henman played some solid tennis and took one hour and 52 minutes to complete a 6-3 6-3 6-2
victory.

Henman's victory squared the Euro-Africa Zone tie going into the second day following Arvind
Parmar's defeat earlier today.

Parmer looked to be on course for his first win in the competition but missed his chance and was eventually beaten in five-sets by Gilles Muller, 4-6 7-5 3-6 6-4 6-4.

Nevertheless, Henman made no mistake in his match and spared Great Britain's blushes by putting
them back in the tie.

Henman secured the first break of the match in the seventh game of the first set and never looked
back.

Although his opponent put up some plucky resistance Henman's two breaks in the third set
proved enough to seal a comfortable win.

The British number one will be joined by Greg Rusedski in tomorrow's doubles.
