Playboy founder Hugh Hefner has filed for divorce. The 83-year-old is to become a bachelor again as he officially parts from his estranged wife.

Hefner married former Playboy Playmate Kimberly Conrad, 47, in 1989 before separating nine years later in 1998. The couple have been apart since.

According to reports, Hefner has decided to end the marriage because the two are feuding about money.

He is believed to have been supporting Conrad and their children since the separation, who were living in a property next door to the Playboy mansion.

However, the couple's relationship became even more strained this year when Hefner sold the house and the model later sued him.

According to reports, Hefner wants to reduce his support payments to his wife by half to $20,000 (£12,000) a month, stating he has already given her almost $12m since their separation.

The star filed documents at LA County Superior Court on Friday, citing "irreconcilable differences" in their partnership.

Hefner and Conrad have two sons together, Marston Glenn, born in 1990 and Cooper Bradford, born in 1991.
