Guy Ritchie has been spreading rumours he has spent time in prison.

The director, who is married to Madonna, was stunned when French reporters asked them how long he had served in jail - so he jokingly told them seven years.

He revealed: "The first question was, 'How is it to be Mr Madonna?' And the second was, 'How many years were you in prison?'

"I kept telling them none, but they wouldn't believe me, so I gave up and told them seven."

Meanwhile, Guy is making a documentary about the Kabbalah.

The filmmaker, who was introduced to the mystic Jewish faith by wife Madonna, hopes the film will help people understand the religion, which counts Demi Moore, Britney Spears and Brittany Murphy among its followers.

He revealed to Britain's Sunday Telegraph newspaper: "I'm making the documentary because I'm sick of people asking me about what Kabbalah is. I can just refer them to the film."
