Google Maps is finally back on iPhone

Google is finally back on the iPhone after Apple software fiasco.

After Apple Maps received criticism, Google Maps app is now back on the iPhone. iPhone maps used to be powered by Google until September 2012 when Apple decided to create its own.

However, Apple’s own maps app was bombarded with complaints for numerous errors, which reportedly led to the sacking of the men in charge of its development.
 
December 13th marks the return of Google maps on the iPhone. This move is certainly welcomed by thousands of users who have experienced problems with Apple’s own version.

The new Google Maps app, according to the company’s blog, will include traffic information, street view, public transport directions, rotating 2D and 3D views.

It will be available for iPhone and iPod Touch (4G) iOs 5.1 and higher in more than 40 countries and 29 languages.

On the other hand, Google’s new app offers more features for Android users.

Some of the facilities that Google iPhone app lacks are voice search, the ability to download maps for offline viewing, and indoor maps. However, project manager Kai Hansen said that these facilities should be found on both software.

He said: “The goal is clearly to make it as unified and consistent an experience as possible.”
