Cory Monteith, one of the stars of hit US high-school TV show Glee, was found dead in a Vancouver hotel.
Reports say that a hotel staff checked his room after the 31-year-old star missed his check-out time and he discovered the body. It was also revealed that he had been dead for several hours before he was found.
Police said that there were no indications of foul play although the cause of death was not immediately apparent. Also, police will not comment on speculation that he died of a drug overdose.
Cory was recently admitted into a treatment facility for substance addiction.
Meanwhile, several Hollywood personalities paid tribute to him. Singer Taylor Swift took to Twitter and said: "Speechless. And for the worst reason."
Rihanna wrote: "Cory Monteith, may your spirit be at peace, and may you fly with the angels... Heartbreaking, my prayers are with all of his loved ones!"
Lea Michele, Cory’s girlfriend, has not commented publicly. However her PR agency asked "that everyone kindly respect Lea's privacy during this devastating time".
