Geri Halliwell has written to Simon Cowell after he described her latest video as rubbish.

The former Spice Girl was said to be extremely upset after Cowell told viewers of CD:UK that she couldn't cut the mustard.

Ride It is Geri's comeback single after more than two years out of the charts.

But Cowell, who has become known as music's Mr Nasty because of his role as a Pop Idol judge, said he would have put Geri's new video straight in the bin.

"If I was her record label and that video arrived on my desk I would throw it in the bin," he said.

A pal of the former Ginger Spice said she was hurt by the comments and had written to Cowell asking why he had it in for her.
