Richard Gere has joined the police force - to check on sex offenders.
The Hollywood actor joined New Mexico sheriff's deputies, in Bernalillo County, last week, to visit known sex offenders to research a role for new movie 'The Flock'.
Gere - who will play a federal agent tracking a missing girl he believes was abducted by a sex offender - spent around four hours with officers before interviewing Sheriff Darren White, a former child sex crimes detective, about his experiences.
According to White, the 'Pretty Woman' star was fascinated by the work and also joked he had left a lasting impression on the female officers.
White was quoted by America's USA Today newspaper as saying: "None of us knew what to expect, especially from someone as big a star as Richard Gere.
"The women commented on how good looking he was, and everyone else just thought he was a down-to-earth nice guy."
During the day, Gere, accompanied by deputies, visited the homes of several registered sex offenders to talk to them.
Production on 'The Flock' is due to start in New Mexico this week.
