The 29-year-old is no stranger to reality television, having already appeared on Strictly Come Dancing and ITV's 71 Degrees North.
Henson has expressed his excitement at being involved in the show, saying:
"I'm so excited to have been cast as The Bachelor as I really feel the time is right for me to find a girl to hopefully spend the rest of my life with.
"It can be hard in my situation to meet women and The Bachelor will give me the unique opportunity to go on some incredible dates and spend quality time getting to know amazing women from all over the UK."
The Bachelor proved extremely popular in the States, airing for 15 seasons and inspiring spin-offs The Bachelorette and The Bachelor Pad.
Gavin has two children, Ruby and Dexter, with popstar Charlotte Church. The couple ended their five-year relationship in May 2010.
