Based on a survey conducted by ourbabymaker.com, the name Gary has been losing its popularity with parents.
In 2013, there were only 442 baby Gary’s which is a huge drop when compared with the early 1950s whereby America saw nearly 39,000 babies with that name – presumably due to the popularity of Hollywood star Gary Cooper.
Today, the name Gary has slipped down in the ranks to 578th in the US.
The story is the same in UK where Gary was removed from the top 100 baby names. The list has been dominated by Mohamed, Oliver, and Noah.
In 2013, only 28 boys in the UK were named Gary compared to 235 in 1996.
