Gary Glitter found GUILTY of abusing girls and attempted rape

Pop star Gary Glitter has been found guilty by a jury in London.

Former chart-topping music star Gary Glitter has been found guilty of abusing girls as well as attempted rape, it has been reported.

Glitter (real name Paul Gadd) was convicted of abusing one victim under 10, one under 13 and another who was under 16 at the time of his crimes.

The offences read in Southwark Crown Court included four indecent assaults, one count of attempted rape and one of administering a drug or other thing in order to facilitate sexual intercourse.

Glitter denied all charges and was acquitted of three other counts.

The jury had been deliberating since Wednesday.

Judge Alistair McCreath told him: "In light of verdicts, I am remanding him in custody."

The 'Do You Wanna Touch Me' glam rock singer was first arrested for possession of thousands of items of child pornography in 1997 and 1999.

Relocating to Vietnam and Cambodia also drew controversy after  a Vietnamese court found him guilty of obscene acts with underage girls in 2006.

Returning to the UK, he was placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for life and was arrested and bailed during the Operation Yewtree investigation which looked into crimes related to Jimmy Savile.
