Game, set and love match: Andy Murray announces engagement

Tennis star Andy Murray mixed business and pleasure as has announced his engagement on the day he axed his long time coach and trainer.

Andy Murray is set to marry long-time girlfriend, Kim Sears.

 

The tennis star made the annoucnment the same day he revealed that he was calling time on two of his longest and strongest partnerships in tennis - his long time coach and trainer; Dani Vallverdu and Jez Green. Their departure underlines Murray’s faith in Amelie Mauremo, who became his coach in the summer. 

 

Reports say that Vallverdu and Green were both unhappy about Mauresmo joining the entourage although they stayed in the team and were believed to have patched up their differences. However, it was apparent that Mauresmo’s arrival has now drastically changed the dynamics within his entourage. 

 

Murray said: "We sat down at the end of the season and decided that a change would be best for all of us.

 

"My off-season training and Australian Open preparations have already begun and I am very excited for the new year. I thank Jez and Dani for all their hard work over the years and wish them the best for the future."
