An Olympic guard faces the possibility of getting sacked from his job after he spat at an Army hero who was drafted in to help enhance the security for the Games. The G4S worker, revealed to be of Asian origin, was patrolling an archery event at Lord’s cricket ground together with the Afghan veteran. 

 

An eyewitness said: “This security guard was ranting and raving at the soldier. (The soldier) was trying to defuse the situation but the guard was going crazy. He spat at the soldier and screamed at him.” 

 

Charges say the guard also branded the Afghan veteran ‘a baby killer’. 

 

“He meant he’d been responsible for children’s deaths while serving in Afghanistan,” sources say. 

 

The soldier, on the other hand, stayed calm the whole time. Eventually, their colleagues came and the guard was removed from the scene. 

 

Bosses at the G4S security company, who is providing the guards at the Games, failed to supply enough guards for the event. This prompted the troops to step in and provide additional security. 

 

An investigation regarding the incident is still underway. G4S spokespersons, however, claim that the soldier asked to search the guard at some point for no apparent reason. 

 

Ex-Helmand commander Colonel Richard Kemp, however, has no plans of tolerating such treatment as he said: “A soldier shouldn’t have to put up with this terrible insult. If there’s any possibility of a prosecution, then it should go ahead.”
