Breaking Bad’s fifth and final season has dominated the recently concluded Emmys after it took home all the major drama prizes. The AMC show was hailed the best drama series while Aaron Paul picked the award for best supporting actor.
"My god, Breaking Bad — it has changed my life and I am standing up here because of one man and that is Vince Gilligan [show creator]," Paul said as he accepted the prize. "Thank you. I miss him. I love him. The best cast and crew I’ve ever worked with and for. There's not a single day that goes by that I don’t miss running to work."
Bryan Cranston (Walter White) and Anna Gunn (Skyler White) won the lead actor and actress awards.
Breaking Bad now has a total of 58 Emmy nominations and is considered one of the finest television shows of all time.
Meanwhile, despite being one of the most popular and one of the most watched TV drama series, HBO’s Game of Thrones went home empty-handed.
On the other hand, Modern Family bagged the outstanding comedy series. While Julia Louise-Dreyfus (Veep) and Jim Parsons (Big Bang Theory) picked up the acting gongs.
Britain’s Sherlock also fared well with awards for its writing and lead and supporting actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.
