Simone Battle, the 25-year-old former X Factor contestant and member of the music group G.R.L was found hanged in her West Hollywood home on Sunday. Now, it has been confirmed by a coroner in Los Angeles that the young singer had indeed killed herself.
"Words cannot express the depth of our loss. Simone's incredible talent was only surpassed by the size of her heart," the band’s remaining members tweeted in tribute. They added that they will “carry her memory with us in everything we do.”
Following the tragic news, the band canceled their gig scheduled at the Marquee nightclub in Las Vegas.
Meanwhile, celebrities continued to pay tribute to her.
"Such tragically sad news to hear of the passing of Simone Battle," X Factor judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini commented on Twitter.
Her tribute was followed by fellow judge and show boss Simon Cowell, who said: "I am so sad to hear about the news Simone Battle has passed away.”
Simone rose to fame after she auditioned on the US version of X Factor. After she was eliminated, she released her own song and then joined a girl group called G.R.L., which was initially supposed to be a rehash of the Pussycat Dolls.
G.R.L.’s record labels, RCA and Kemosabe, described Battle as an "exceptional young talent and human being".
