You don't need state of the art graphics and engines to create one of the scariest video games. In fact, a simple and minimalistic browser-based game is enough. At least that's what FPS-MAN is trying – and succeeding – to prove. The idea behind this game is as simple as this: what if the classic Pan-Man game was upgraded from 2D to 3D? And the answer is one of the most intense, scariest and action-packed games you could play.
But how can such a minimalistic game be so intense, since it doesn't even have a story behind it? All you have to do is collect the balls around the maze and run from ghosts. Well, there are three things that could give you a heart attack if you play FPS-MAN alone in the dark. First thing – there are so tight corners that you have to take around the maze that it's possible for you not to see the ghost until it appears all of the sudden in front of you – and by that time, it will be too late for you do anything about it. Second – the creepy music provides one of the best horror soundtracks possible. And three – you only have one life, so when the ghost catches you on Level 12, you will have to start again from Level 1.
