Richard Attenborough, the director of 1982 epic Gandhi who won eight Oscars, has moved to a care home specifically for sick or elderly entertainers, together with his wife actress Sheila Sim, due to deteriorating health.
Reportedly Lord Attenborough suffered from a stroke five years ago and was in a coma. His family said that he never fully recovered and had a hard time communicating and moving around.
He joked at that time: "I scared the living daylights out of Sheila, had some time in hospital. They were all fussing around."
The couple sold their home in Richmond upon Thames, southwest London, for £11.5million.
