Turkey dinners, mince pies and mistletoe are no longer the only staples of the traditional family Christmas according to a recent survey.
Watching your favourite film as a family is now another firm Christmas custom and the top way to spend quality time together, with 93 per cent of families settling down to enjoy their much-loved movies over the festive period.
The research, carried out to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the ultimate Christmas classic, It’s A Wonderful Life, out now on Blu-ray and DVD, also revealed that 93 per cent of families saw the opportunity to watch a film together as a great way to relax during Christmas time – even more popular than eating together or drinking.
ItÂ’s A Wonderful Life remains one of the UKÂ’s festive favourites, featuring in the Top 5 of the best Christmas films.
It was also revealed that family/holiday themed films as a genre are preferred by both parents and kids alike at Christmas, after being voted second most popular in the poll.
Blu-rays and DVDs were also revealed as one of the nationÂ’s most sought after stocking fillers with 86 per cent of the population saying they think video entertainment makes a "great gift".
Additionally, a massive 73 per cent of the population also said theyÂ’re likely to buy a Blu-ray or DVD for a loved one this Christmas.
This year marks the 65th Anniversary release of ItÂ’s a Wonderful Life, a timeless and moving story of one man and his journey of discovery.
