New miracle anti-cellulite knickers have proven a raging hit, selling out in 30 frenzied minutes.

The wonder pants from John Lewis were in huge demand both online and offline, as body-conscious customers tried to bag a pair of the fat melting underwear first.

The number of internet sales took the company by surprise, wiping out supplies in only half an hour, with thousands more left hanging on their waiting list.

Lingerie buyer at the store said of the success: "Although we have always had confidence in this product, the unprecedented customer response has taken us a little bit by surprise. However more stock will be through in time".
