James Bond star Pierce Brosnan has tipped fellow Irishman Colin Farrell to play the suave super-spy in the next 007 movie.
Brosnan has been unable to agree terms to make a fifth Bond film and now appears to have turned his back on the franchise.
A number of actors have been linked to the role including Ewan McGregor, Dougray Scott and Hugh Jackman.
However, Brosnan believes Farrell, who has starred in The Recruit, Minority Report and Phone Booth, has what it takes to follow in his footsteps.
"I'll give it Colin Farrell," Brosnan said. "He'll eat the head off them all."
There was talk of Brosnan holding on to the role with Quentin Tarantino in the director's chair.
Despite some very public lobbying by the Pulp Fiction director it now looks as though the next Bond film will have a new face ordering the vodka martinis.
