Some iPhone users who saw and believed the fake ad suggesting that upgrading to Apple’s new iOS 7 would make their iPhone waterproof have taken to social media to air their displeasure at being tricked.
The fake ad, which closely resembles Apple’s official marketing, has circulated on social networks. It claims that “In an emergency, a smart-switch will shut off the phone’s power supply and corresponding components to prevent any damage to your iPhone’s delicate circuitry.”
Some users who believed that the advert was real upgraded to iOS 7 and dunked the device into the water only to realize that they were tricked. One user took to Twitter to air displeasure and wrote: "Ok whoever said IOS7 is waterproof GO F*** YOURSELF".
Apple has released iOS 7 last week, which offered users with several features and a visual overhaul. However, making the iPhone waterproof was not one of its features.
Yesterday, the company has announced that it sold a record-breaking 9million iPhone 5s and 5c during the weekend launch.
