The Stone Roses are to reform, the band have announced.
Frontman Ian Brown, drummer Alan ‘Reni’ Wren, guitarist John Squire and bassist Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield revealed the news at a press conference in the Soho Hotel.
Brown revealed plans for the band to "take over the world", before saying:
"We're going to go round the world next year. We're going to start off in our home town, Manchester... then after that we're going to take it round the world.”
Reni then added: "If anyone buys the tickets of course."
The band will play two dates at ManchesterÂ’s Heaton Park on 29 and 30 June, before beginning a world tour.
They also announced plans to record new material for the first time since 1995.
Brown went on, explaining:
"It's not a trip down memory lane, not at all. Yeah, we are doing new songs."
The band had previously all swore that there would never be any sort of reunion, but Squire explained:
"Everything changed when me and Ian started seeing each other again. It was surreal, we went from crying, laughing about the old days, to writing songs in a heartbeat."
Tickets for the Heaton Park shows will go on sale on 21 October at 9.30am.
