A popular trend among young couples who have recently become engaged is to set up an engagement photo shoot. This is a fabulous way to capture the love and excitement felt during the engagement period. If you’re in the process of planning your own engagement shoot, we’ve put together some fashion ideas so that your photos come out picture perfect.
Ladies let’s face it, we all know the star of the shoot will be your engagement ring, but it’s important to think about the rest of your jewelry. You want to be sure you don’t take away from the ring itself, but adding a bit more bling is never a bad thing. You can check out places such as ascotdiamonds.com for coordinating items such as necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. Just be sure to pick something that matches and flows with your engagement ring.
You want your engagement photo shoot to be just that, an engagement shoot. You don’t want it to look like your wedding photos, it needs to stand out as its own special day. Likely the both of you will be decked out in white and black on the wedding day, so why not go the opposite direction and dress in bright cheerful colors for your engagement photo shoot. Bright colors also tend to photograph beautifully, both indoors and outdoors.
If you do plan on being photographed outside, think about your surroundings and pick colors that will complement the setting rather than blend into it.
This is also an opportunity to let your personality as a couple shine. If you aren't the type that regularly dresses up in fancy clothes, then don't do it for your photo shoot. The engagement photos should be you, just a bit more polished than on a typical day. By dressing to your own personal style you will also be comfortable during the shoot, which will help to make the pictures that much better.
The days of wearing matching outfits are over. Now that’s not to say there should be no planning done and no coordination whatsoever. Instead aim to complement each other. This can be done by picking one color that you both have accents of, maybe you are both wearing the same style of shirt, etc. You want a cohesive look without looking like twins.
If you’re still feeling unsure about the outfits you have picked out, it wouldn’t hurt to have a friend or family member take a few photos of you and your significant other dressed up. This may help you figure out if the look will translate well into photos. You’ll want to do this well in advance of your actual photo shoot day so you’ve got time to make changes if necessary.
Engagement photos are a wonderful way to capture on film memories that will last a lifetime, so putting a little effort and thought into your outfits will pay off.
