Two characters will be killed off in a massive explosion in 'Emmerdale' next week.
It is not yet known which two villagers will lose their lives in the biggest disaster to hit the soap since the famous plane crash.
Viewers will see the show home of the King family's new River housing development burst into flames after the explosion.
Sadie King, played by actress Patsy Kensit, and her ex-husband Jimmy King, actor Nick Miles, will be left trapped in the rubble and surrounded by flames.
Jimmy's father Tom King will have to be held back as he tries to rush into the house to save his son from the blaze.
Several other main characters, including antiques dealer Danny Daggert and benefit cheat Dawn Woods, will be trapped in the wreckage of the explosion and a motionless Diane Sugden, the landlady of the Woolpack pub, will be seen being carried away from the disaster area.
An 'Emmerdale' spokeswoman said: "Lives will be lost and there will be some major shocks. It is supposed to be a happy occasion as the fabulous show home is opened.
"Tom announces his son Matt's engagement to Sadie. But things turn nasty when Jimmy angrily pushes Sadie into the show home's bathroom. As Noreen waits for the toilet to become available she opens the airing cupboard door. A light switches on and suddenly there is a massive blast that rips through the house."
Viewers will see the dramatic action unfold in an hour-long 'Emmerdale' special to be aired on July 13.
