The Electric Jukebox is a product of a well-funded British business plans that uses simple hardware and software. It is essentially a device that gives you a year’s access to all the music you could possibly want.
The man behind the idea, Rob Lewis, got the idea when he and his brother decided to buy a Sonos system complete with a Spotify subscription for their parents.
"Then he said I would have to provide technical support - that was the light-bulb moment."
"I set the team a challenge. Can we make something that comes in a box, affordable for most people, open the box, and two minutes later you've got a jukebox with all the world's music."
Electric Jukebox is uncomplicated. It offers just three options on the menu, my music, discover, and search. However, for some people, it could be pricey for £179 - or $229 in the US per year.
One of the music industry's most astute analysts Mark Mulligan that although Electric Jukebox is a good idea,in the last decade, the majority of people have just lost the habit of paying for music.
