Eight people have lost their lives and at least 27 others have been injured due to a crash that occurred in California, America, at the weekend. A passenger bus was involved in the crash, which happened on Sunday.
The tragedy occurred on Highway 38, which is north of the American town of Yucaipa, and the route is said to be mountainous. The incident happened early Monday morning GMT.
Those individuals who were injured as a result of the crash are reportedly being treated in hospital, with the injuries varying from being minor to serious.
It is understood that around six of the people affected by the crash are in a critical condition according to reports.
Fire services as well as rescue workers attended the scene where it is understood it took several hours for people to be helped off the passenger bus.
Based on reports, the bus was embarking on a trip which took individuals away from the Big Bear ski resort in the American state.
There are claims that one reason for the crash could be because of the passenger bus brakes.
In a report by The Telegraph, the newspaper quotes an official from InterBus saying: “The information that we have is that the bus's brakes failed and the accident occurred.”
The area where the incident happened is East of Los Angeles, and the cause of the crash has not yet been confirmed as of time of press.
