On Monday morning, Egyptian protesters have attacked Muslim Brotherhood’s national headquarters in Cairo. After throwing objects out of broken windows and waving the Egyptian flag, the protesters were seen carrying office equipment.
The health ministry has confirmed that eight people were killed in clashes around Muslim Brotherhood’s headquarters in Moqattam.
Brotherhood spokesman Gehad El-Haddad said that the move was very dangerous. Talking to Reuters news agency, he said: "It's very dangerous for one entity in society to take up violence as a means of change because it may entice others to do so.”
People in Egypt have been protesting and asking their president to resign for failing to tackle economic and security problems since he was elected a year ago. The opposition movement behind the protests warned Mr Morsi that he have until Tuesday afternoon to step down and call for fresh presidential elections or else, face a campaign of civil disobedience.
On Sunday, the biggest crowd since 2011 revolution that toppled Hosni Mubarak was seen in Cairo’s Tahrir Square.
The health ministry had confirmed that as of Sunday, there were at least 16 people who died and 781 injured because of the protests.
